Development of low melting point alloys
Nov 15, 2021
Foreign countries attach great importance to the research and use of low melting point mold alloys. Many large aircraft and automobile companies have experts engaged in this scientific research work. Since the 1970s, the promotion and use of low melting point alloy molds in China has achieved rapid development. According to statistics, for stamping parts such as automobiles, tractor covers and aircraft skins, which are quickly changed and have complex shapes, the use of low-melting alloy molds can shorten the manufacturing cycle by 80% and save 70% to 80% of steel.
In mold manufacturing, the characteristics of volume expansion of low melting point alloys can also be used to fasten parts and reduce the difficulty of assembling convex and concave molds. The gap is uniform, no internal stress is generated, and the quality of mold assembly can be guaranteed, especially For large and complex dies, its effect is more significant. The assembled mold is easy to disassemble and repair, and the fixed part only needs rough machining, which saves a lot of manufacturing man-hours, and the alloy can be reused, which reduces the maintenance cost.
