How long is the life of aluminum die casting mold?

Nov 15, 2024

For customers who don't know much about the die-casting manufactury, most people have a misunderstanding that the higher the price, the longer its service life, so they always subconsciously think that aluminum die-casting molds have a longer service life than zinc die-casting molds. However, this is not the case.

Usually, the life of a mold is related to many factors, such as mold material, mold processing accuracy, mold structural design, mold working environment, material properties, etc. External factors can be solved artificially, but the characteristics of aluminum alloy materials themselves and the harsh die-casting environment make the life of aluminum alloy die-casting molds not very long.

Because the melting point of aluminum alloy is much higher than that of zinc alloy, the mold has to work in a higher temperature environment, and the aluminum alloy has poor fluidity. Under high-speed impact and high pressure, the erosion and wear of the mold are more serious. Also, due to the large fluctuation range of the working temperature, the mold has been in a reciprocating fatigue state of thermal expansion and contraction, which greatly shortens the service life of the mold.

Dongguan Wochang uses high-quality steel to manufacture aluminum casting molds, and strictly follows customer requirements in mold design, manufacturing, and precision. The mold service life is as long as 50,000 to 80,000 times.Welcome to contact us.
